The Varnum Whippet boys’ baseball team hosted their District playoff at home this past Wednesday and Thursday. The Whippets made a clean sweep of the competition to win the District Championship.

The New Lima Falconettes hosted their Class B District Playoffs against Bray-Doyle and Mill Creek Thursday afternoon and came away District Champions.

Trojan Softball Coach Amber Flores was honored on April 18 for her recent 500th career win at Seminole State College.

Fifteen miles east of Sarasota, Florida, my son Clay, his friend, Abel, and I took a road trip to Myakka River State Park to show me a congregation of alligators. Hurricane Ian in 2023 caused 113 billion dollars’ worth of damages of Florida’s coastline—the worst in history. Recovery of the Park’s damages is still going on; however, most of its beauty was untouched. If you look closely in the thickly forested areas, you can see twisted and felled tall palm trees among torn limbs of the old oaks. Workers certainly have their job cut out for them.

Ryan Charles Patrick Ryan, 56, of Royse City, Texas was called home to be with the Lord on April 14, 2024. He leaves behind his loving wife of 24 years, Susan Ryan, married on July 1st, 2000, his five children, April Dampf and Husband Kevin Dampf, Patrick Ryan and partner Kianah Vivier, Erika Booth and partner Kord Williams, Ian Booth and wife Raven Booth, and Katelyn Ryan and partner Tyler Ruby; four grandchildren, a sister, Rhonda Jones and husband Wes Jones, plus several nieces and nephews.

Patricia Ann Yeager, known to most as Patty, enter this world on August 5th of 1952 and exited on April 15th of 2024. Patty lived in Seminole most of her life. She was a proud member of the Seminole Nation Mekusukey Band and Wind Clan. Her parents were Cecilia “Buster” and Jack Wolf who raised her at Gar Creek ceremonial grounds and Hitchitee Church. She gave her life to Jesus and was Baptized at Snake Creek Baptist Church in July of 1980 during a vacation Bible school. She graduated from Strother High School where she played basketball and was a cheerleader. Outside of school she played fast pitch softball with teams from all over Seminole and Oklahoma City.
